It’s a Passion Project!
Kitbash KVM is a passion project. When I started out, the only solutions out there where WAY over priced. As time went on, and I made slow progress, some cheaper options eventually came out, I even tested a few of them out, but most were still pretty expensive, or complex. How hard was it to just have a cable I plugged into my laptop to let it control another machine?
It just seemed crazy to me that there wasn’t some reasonably priced solution so that a garage server admin like me, or a highschooler with a new Raspberry PI didn’t have to pay crazy amounts for a small piece of kit, just to use their own laptop as a screen, mouse, and Keyboard for another machine.

And it turns out I wasn’t the only one, over the last few years I’ve seen more and more passion projects like mine pop up doing similar things, some even on kickstarter (though those are still a bit pricey).
I don’t know if I’ll get there, but my goal is for folks to have say a $30 piece of kit that they can get when they are getting into computers, especially the Raspberry PI ecosystem, so that they don’t need to waste their time, money, and energy on a more expensive solution, or lugging around spares for everything.
If you like the project, feel free to contribute on github or drop me a line.
